SEER = Season Energy Efficiency Ratio

SEER is the most common rating for an air conditioners efficiency. The higher the number, the less the system will cost to run. In order to measure SEER, both the evaporator and condenser need to be considered. Many condensing units are rated in a SEER but they moreso represent a model number and the SEER will fluctuate depending on the evaporator blower and coil. It is important to verify the complete system SEER rating from AHRI because many condensing unit model numbers can be deceiving. A system with an 18 or 19 in the model may only be a 15 or 16 SEER depending on the size.

SEER is an important consideration when buying a new air conditioning system. Use our energy calculator to see how much your new AC system will cost to operate.
