Do you have hot and cold spots in your home?
Are members of the family more comfortable at different temperatures?
Do some areas of your home or building require warmer or cooler temperatures?
Do you wish you could cool only one room at a time?
The two main benefits of zoned systems are comfort and energy savings. Traditional ducted systems demand the user cools or heats the entire building whether the whole structure needed it or not. The only way around it was to manually open or close diffusers. This was also not efficient because air would still be lost through much of the duct work on its way to the diffuser. An example where we would see this most often is a house with an upstairs bedroom and a thermostat downstairs. The thermostat downstairs may be satisfied with temperature but doesn't account for the extra heat upstairs. Zone systems allow for thermostats in multiple locations. Instead of setting the thermostat downstairs to lower than normal temperatures, residents may now just cool the upstairs bedroom. Without having to cool the downstairs when it isn't needed, substantial costs are saved on utilities. Heating or cooling more space simply costs more money.
